Art and Nature Prize of la Bourdaisière 2009

Art and Nature Prize of la Bourdaisière 2009

On Wednesday, December 4, the Art and Nature Prize of La Bourdaisière was awarded to Sylvain Rousseau for his work La Cité.

Two second prizes were also awarded to Lucie Chaumont and Irina Volkonskii.

For this first edition in 2009, fourteen artists competed by creating an original sculpture within the framework of the Ar(T)bres exhibition, using a tree in the Bourdaisière park as an anchor point and drawing inspiration from the theme “abused nature or man’s aggression on nature”.

Through the awarding of this Art and Nature prize, the Ar(T)bres exhibition cycle which is attached to it, but also the forthcoming opening of a place of creation and exhibition in its troglodyte cellars, the Château de la Bourdaisière has the ambition to become an essential place of residence and exhibition for artists whose work questions the relationship between man and nature and a world in search of change.

The Art and Nature Prize of la Bourdaisière is organized by COAL

AWARD CRITERIA

The winning work will be judged for its aesthetic quality, its respect for the constraint of the tree as a raw material, its sensitivity in interpreting the subject of “abused nature” as well as its capacity to transmit to the visitor the premises of a reflection on contemporary environmental problems.

AWARDED

The winning artist will receive the sum of 1000 euros and an invitation to participate in the residency and production program in the troglodytic cellars within the framework of Inside Gallery 2011.
