PUBLIC EVENTS AND TRAINING – RESEARCH-CREATION TT

Throughout the Transformative Territoires program, the research-creations give rise to collective actions, experiments, encounters, activations, exhibitions, publications and training workshops on each of the partner sites in order to present Transformative Artistic Practices, raise awareness and involve local community citizens in these projects.

ARTMILL OPEN HOUSE

On July 27, 2024, ArtMill organized an exceptional public event as part of the Transformative Territories program, presenting the Inter-Species Refuge project. INLAND ACADEMY

TheInland Academy is developing as a platform for learning and exchange linking art, ecology and rural development. With currently two face-to-face and three online sessions, the Academy has brought together participants from diverse backgrounds to explore critical issues and create meaningful connections.

  • Launching the new cycle: A first online session introduced the year, with a discussion led by Lu Millet on research through affect theory, queer and alternative methodological approaches.
  • October session – Animal studies and sustainable practices: This immersive session explored the human-animal relationship and sustainable rural practices through hands-on activities (cheese-making, apple pressing, pastoralism) and lectures by researchers such as Marisol de la Cadena and Michael Marder.
  • Last session – Atlantic Ecosystem: An immersion in the Atlantic marine environment, with collective readings, an oceanic sound meditation, and exchanges with local fishermen on the challenges facing the sector.

ITM AND THE SENIORE COMMUNITY OF MAÇAO

ITM’s creative research project aims to raise awareness of the impacts of forest fires through art and interdisciplinary dialogue. It addresses structural and behavioral issues related to land management and decision-making for a sustainable future. Within this framework,ITM invites senior citizens to take part in educational activities focusing on their emotional reactions to wildfire.

A first event took place on December 3, 2024 at the Senior University of Mação. It presented the objectives and progress of the TT project, encouraging a dialogue between senior citizens, artists and researchers. The meeting highlighted the role of art in preserving collective memory and the ecological regeneration of landscapes affected by forest fires.

At the same time, community activities are carried out in all Mação’s senior clubs, at the heart of the project’s engagement strategy. Through workshops, storytelling sessions and participatory events, seniors share their knowledge, contributing to a better understanding of the area’s transformations. These initiatives strengthen intergenerational links and enhance the role of seniors as cultural custodians, ensuring that the project remains rooted in local reality while promoting inclusive participation.
