PALIMPSEST CREATIVE DIALOGUES – Open Call

PALIMPSEST CREATIVE DIALOGUES – Open Call

As partner of the project, COAL is pleased to inform you that PALIMPSEST project has just launched the Open Call “Creative Dialogues”. In short, the project is seeking architects, designers, artists, and creative agents from all over Europe, eager to work on imagining and experimenting with new ways to respond to environmental problems in three exemplary landscape laboratories, Łódź in Poland, Jerez de la Frontera in Spain, and Milan in Italy. The call is open until September 18th 2023!

PALIMPSEST is an EU-funded research initative aiming at re-shaping landscapes through co-creation of sustainable solutions that connect human actions, heritage and sustainability, using innovative practices in architecture, design, and art.

This open call invites creative minds interested in working with us in three exemplary landscape laboratories:

  • Łódź (PL), UNESCO city of films with a unique industrial heritage, fighting against multiple pollution problems (water, air and soils) while regenerating industrial urban landscape to give birth to a new urban.

  • Jerez de la Frontera (ES), an Andalusian wine cultural landscape challenged by the competition for land use between agriculture, tourism and energy production.

  • Milan (IT) focusing on the landscape around the river Lambro, also shaped by ancient irrigation practices emitting from multiple water sources, nowadays struggling with threatening water scarcity issues.

In each landscape, PALIMPSEST promotes collaborative experiments grounded on design, art practices, and architecture. COAL is the French partner specifically dedicated to the artistic and cultural challenges of the project. We are looking for 3 creatives who will join us in the design, organization, and development of two residential workshops (one in 2024 and the second in 2025) in the pilot landscapes of their choice.

On these occasions, design, art practices and architecture will dialogue with place-specific needs and broad systemic challenges to imagine a new future for these three landascape laboratories.

If you feel ready to take on this challenge you can read the full call announcement down below:
