CREATE, EXCHANGE, INVENT SANS R\u00c9SERVE<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

At a time when the reserves on which our current and future lifestyles are based are being exhausted; offering a shared space and time to express ourselves without reserve; through new types of creative practice that have emerged from the traditional reserves of art; questioning conservationist thinking and inventing new ways of preserving living territories. This is the ambition of SANS R\u00c9SERVE, the new meeting place for creative artists committed to ecology, launched by COAL.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

GIVING A VOICE TO ARTISTS COMMITTED TO ECOLOGY<\/strong><\/p>\n

When COAL was first established in 2008 it was not evident that art and ecology should be brought together. 15 years on, it is clear that this cooperation is essential.<\/span> In 2010, COAL created the COAL Art and Environment Prize to contribute to the emergence of a generation of artists committed to the environment.<\/span> Witnessing and playing a part in the evolution of this new scene, in 14 editions the COAL Prize has identified and promoted hundreds of artists across the globe who use their talent to imagine and experiment with solutions to ecological questions, to make visible and support the transformation of territories, lifestyles, organisations and production methods. Together they are helping to build a new collective narrative, a new imagination, a developing common heritage and an optimistic framework that is essential if we are to find the motivation to implement the necessary changes towards a fairer and more sustainable world. SANS R\u00c9SERVE aims to project the voices of these artists, and to be a place for reflection and experimentation on the many ways in which ecology can be integrated into art and vice versa.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

AN EDITION UNDER THE SIGN OF PLANTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first edition of SANS R\u00c9SERVE is in keeping with the theme of the COAL 2023 Prize dedicated to plants. It invites French and international artists, thinkers, scientists and protectors of nature to sow the seeds of creation and action, to germinate new research and experimentation, to act, to heal, to reiterate, to feel the richness of plants, their balances and dynamics, from seed to calyx, from molecule to ecosystem, so that inventive and resilient plant thinking can flourish in the world of tomorrow.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018If you do not plant yourself, you will never grow\u2019 – this is the teaching of plants, which tame the depths to better grow towards the light, reminding us where to land to better orient ourselves. Swarming from all sides, they synthesise the blue planet into a green world, the colour of hope and renewal, the banner of ecology, the glimmer of a living world, hoping and inspiring a habitable Earth. They are our radical otherness, yet they are everywhere, around us and within us. They pass through us and make us up, metamorphosed in the food we eat, the air we breathe, our remedies, our goods, but also our thoughts, from the human and social sciences to artistic creation.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

ON THE PROGRAMME<\/strong><\/p>\n

SANS R\u00c9SERVE invites professionals and the general public to a series of meetings on the challenges of plants, workshops, installations, performances and a carte blanche for the artists in the Prix COAL 2023 to take over the rooms of the Mus\u00e9e de la Chasse et de la Nature.<\/p>\n

The programme for SANS R\u00c9SERVE includes meetings between renowned experts and artists to discuss plant-related issues; ten “cartes blanches” given to artists to take over the rooms of the Mus\u00e9e de la Chasse et de la Nature; the award ceremony for the Prix COAL and Prix \u00e9tudiant COAL – Culture & Diversit\u00e9 2023, followed by a convivial and festive moment with wild plants…<\/p>\n
