Creative Climate Leadership (CCL) trainings are open
First training session of our pan-European Creative Leadership Climate (CCL) program for artists and cultural professionals to explore the cultural dimensions of climate change and act in an effective, creative and resilient way.

The Paris Agreement on climate change, signed by the United Nations, came into force on November 4, committing world leaders to keeping global warming below 2°C. What is needed now is a truly creative and collaborative mobilization to succeed. CCL recognizes the unique role of culture in influencing new ways of being, doing and thinking, and supports cultural professionals who want to address the climate challenge through a program of events, training and policy reflections.
The first international training session will take place in Wales, UK, March 27-31, 2017, with the participation of Julie’s Bicycle, a London-based charity supporting the creative community to take action on climate change, and Slovenia-based sustainability training NGO PINA.
Located at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth, Wales, the course offers:
● Explore the role of culture and creativity in addressing climate change and environmental challenges;
● Bring together invited experts to share case studies, research, approaches and practical solutions for environmental sustainability in the cultural sector;
● Enable each participant to develop their leadership and ideas;
● Prepare participants to apply their learning and new skills back home, and support continuing education and exchange through an alumni network.
Session themes will include approaches to organizational change; Engaging people in new narratives and changing values through art and design; Encouraging behavior change through communication and advocacy; Ways to collaborate to maximize impact on civil society and public policy development.
Applications will be considered from all disciplines and art forms. Applications from organizations that work directly with the cultural sector, such as networks, associations, funding agencies and policy makers, will also be considered.
The deadline for applications for the UK course is Monday, January 16, 2017 at 10:00 AM (GMT). A second training will take place in Slovenia later this year.

The course costs £1,000 for UK residents and €1,200 for international applicants, which includes tuition, accommodation and food. Participants are responsible for paying for their own travel. Five free seats and travel scholarships are offered for independent applicants for each training session.
The CCL brings together eight European partners representing a wide geographical area, a variety of artistic specialties and different approaches to encourage environmental action in the European creative sector: Julie’s Bicycle, Ars Baltica, COAL, EXIT Foundation, KRUG, mitos21, On The Move and PiNA .
