Luminous strolls at Noirlac Abbey

Luminous strolls at Noirlac Abbey

For the 2024 edition of Flâneries lumineuses, and under the artistic direction of COAL, artist and filmmaker Jacques Perconte presents “Soleil, soleils”, a journey to the heart of the landscape.

At dusk, his light and sound installations invite us to receive the light of the sun, moon and stars, bringing a new clarity to the abbey’s ancestral stones. Taking as her motif the reality of our environment, from its magisterial nature to its bruised landscapes, the artist reveals the immense beauty of our heritage through paintings in motion. Mountains, forests, cities, rivers, lakes, seas and oceans unite in a great flow, provoking what Romain Rolland called the “oceanic feeling”, that emotion which annihilates temporality and space, and immerses us in a great whole. Jacques Perconte has been a major figure on the French digital art scene and avant-garde film scene since the late 1990s, and lives and works between France and the Netherlands. He has developed a sensitive audiovisual body of work in which environment and landscape are the vehicles of a unique aesthetic that disrupts vision as much as the technologies it implements.
