Thierry Boutonnier

is a tree artist. Winner of the COAL Prize in 2010, he collaborates regularly with the association and becomes a member in 2022. Since his studies (ENSBA of Lyon, Concordia University Montreal, IG2E university of Lyon 1, SPEAP, CFPPA of Valentin), he mixes arts and life sciences. It affirms its agricultural filiations and reformulates the question of domestication, through the cohabitation with non-humans. It sets up alternatives to confront their exploitation and question our responsibility towards them . Anchored in specific territories, his works are eco-designed and co-constructed over long periods of time in order to embroider collective works in interdependence with ecosystems. Since 2017, COAL has been accompanying its Appel d’Air project in particular.
