Appel d’air : The workshops

Each year, Appel d’air proposes three to four participative workshops around the trees of the Grand Paris Express. Both practical and theoretical, these workshops allow the inhabitants of the Greater Paris area to learn about arboriculture in an urban environment.

One of the objectives of Appel d’air is to involve the inhabitants in the development policies of urban territories. This mission takes shape not only through the essence of the project but also through several participatory workshops organized throughout the season.

Supervised by the Appel d’air team composed of Thierry Boutonnier, artist-arboriculturist, Sylvain Gaufillier, nomadic nurseryman and Jessica Leclercq, member of COAL, the participants are invited to take care of the Paulownia tomentosa, destined to be transplanted in the future stations of the Grand Paris Express.

Transmission of arboricultural knowledge
We invite you to learn or improve your arboricultural, biological and technical knowledge of trees, using Paulownia tomentosa as a case study. Our team is here to answer your questions.

Paulownia tomentosa cuttings
Appel d’Air is destined to spread and generate a true urban forest, the memory and matrix of this shared project. You are therefore invited to take cuttings from the trees of Greater Paris, which will give birth to the echo trees, arboricultural subjects of this future forest.

Transmission of arboricultural gestures
We invite you to put your hands in the earth by practicing urban gardening gestures. From improving tree staking, to installing an irrigation system to pruning trees, these times allow you to learn how to care for your plants.

Cycle des arbres workshops with classes of Nanterre
Appel d’air proposes each year workshops for classes of Cm1 and Cm2. Since 2018, in partnership with Nanterre City Hall, we have been conducting a series of “Tree Cycle” workshops to introduce young students to urban arboriculture. Combining gardening and visual arts, these creative workshops allow young people to become aware of ecology through art and gardening.
