Season VIVANT in Marseille

TWELVE ARTISTS FOR THE LIVING IN THE HEART OF THE CONGRESS, from September 3 to 11

The VIVANT exhibition held in the heart of the Congress, in the Espaces Générations Nature, offered a sensitive journey into the bowels of life through twelve artists’ projects, which highlight and emphasize both the extreme fragility and the immense strength of life. All of them have been nominated for the COAL Prize, which rewards every year artists committed to ecology: Éléonore Saintagnan, Victor Remère, Lucy + Jorge Orta, Hypercomf, Spela Petric, Minerva Cuevas, Paul Duncombe, Lia Giraud, Maria Lucia Cruz Correia, Anthony Duchêne, Louis Guillaume. They invite us, at the heart of the Congress, to invent new ways of being in touch with the living, to better defend it.

For the inauguration of the exhibition, on September 4, the Minister of Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili honored us with her presence.

MEETING ON ART AND ECOLOGY AT THE FRANCE PAVILION, September 6

In the French Pavilion, COAL presented the challenge of approaching ecology through art through the projects nominated for the COAL Art and Ecology 2020 Prize. Artists’ projects are like so many ways of reweaving our sensitivity to life, of rethinking our relationship with the environment, of being attentive to other forms of life, of renewing our images and our collective imaginations, of inventing new paradigms and other ways of being in the world. This intervention was introduced by Christophe Aubel, Director General of the French Office for Biodiversity, and with the support of the Museum of Hunting and Nature, represented by Anne de Malleray.

SAFARIS NOCTISSIMO WITH THE MONKEY STANDING CIE, AT THE NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM OF MARSEILLES, on September 9, 10 and 11

During three evenings, Jade Duviquet & Cyril Casmèze – Cie du Singe Debout invested the Museum of Natural History of Marseille to offer to the public a performative wandering in the heart of the Museum around the theme: “6th extinction: These Others, what do they have to tell us? A singular journey with the appearance of a joyful, serious and poetic bestiary, echoing the collections where a procession of ghostly animals, pangolin, golden eagle, polar bear and dragonfly, move to the rhythm of the red list of threatened species, set to music.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING FOR SUSTAINABLE CULTURE, September 8, 9 and 10

COAL has developed a participative training methodology to initiate a process of ecological transition and solidarity at the scale of a cultural institution as well as with companies and brands via a cultural approach. The program consists of three training sessions to integrate the ecological transition in the cultural professions, to integrate culture as a lever of ecological transition and solidarity for companies, brands and promoters. A training project co-signed in partnership with Nicomak, specialist in professional training in sustainable development, and the agency influence for good.

AN AGENDA OF CULTURAL EVENTS ON THE LIVING

During the Congress, VIVANT also offered a calendar of selected cultural events on the living arts organized by the Season’s partner structures. Meet the artists Nicolas Floc’h and Franck Gérard with the Camargo Foundation, listen to the songs of endangered birds through the sound installation of Anthony Carcone, participate in the projections-discussions of the exhibition WORKS, fantasizing the world from Noémie Sauve to Coco Velten, or to the meetings of the Guides Office of the GR2013 around the Etang de Berre and the Aygalades stream. And elsewhere in France: take part in the Assemblées de Loire in Tours, and discover L’Écume des vivants, the eighth edition of the Anglet Biennial under the curatorship of Lauranne Germond – COAL.
