COAL TO THE ARTISTIC DIRECTION OF THE DOMAINE DE CHAMARANDE

COAL TO THE ARTISTIC DIRECTION OF THE DOMAINE DE CHAMARANDE

An atypical heritage and cultural site, the Domaine départemental de Chamarande (Essonne) brings together, on nearly 100 hectaresThis is an artistic and cultural center, a built complex and a landscaped area recognized as a “Remarkable Garden” by the Ministry of Culture and the Committee of Parks and Gardens of France since 2005.

With this exceptional site, the Domaine de Chamarande entrusts its artistic direction for the visual arts to COAL in order to explore the field of culture in relation to ecology and sustainable development by affirming its laboratory dimension, linking artistic, scientific and ecological disciplines. It seeks to mobilize cultural actors and artists on environmental issues while offering the general public to approach nature and biodiversity from a new societal and cultural angle.

The association collaborates in the programming of exhibitions, residencies and orientations concerning the animation of local life. She advises on the choices related to the sustainable development policy of the Domaine, and ensures the interface with artists and cultural actors.

Season opener May 13, 2012:

SHOWS
Conviviality, ecology and practicality
May 13 – September 30, 2012

For the first edition, from May 13 to September 30, 2012, the Domaine de Chamarande is doing “Salons” around new devices of conviviality, imagined by artists and architects. In addition to a reflection on social and global issues, this new show has an intelligence and curiosity about its environment. It is once again becoming a place of exchange for actors wishing to build together a new culture of “local”. More than ever before, making a show is a method. Inspired by the culture of sustainable development and its co-creative approach, the consultation of the parties upstream of the decisions relies on the complementarity of the actors within the projects. The entire ecosystem of the Domaine thus becomes the very focus of the exhibition. From works and places to think about, to practice oneself, artistic actions, meetings and celebrations, the Domaine de Chamarande proposes you to live a new experience both conscious and hedonistic mixing the intimate and the collective.
