Forest Nights 2021

Forest Nights 2021

We are pleased to announce the creation of the Nuits des Forêts: a nationwide festival for the general public that invites you to discover the forest near you and understand its multiple functions: environmental, productive and recreational.

At a time of climate change, forests are at the heart of social debates: droughts, tree dieback and diseases, forest fires, carbon offsetting and uses of wood … Because forests are a common heritage, the Nuits des Forêts wishes to create times of exchange, bringing together forest stakeholders, wood professionals, but also experts and scientists, thinkers and philosophers, artists, and inviting all citizens to get involved on these issues.

Through the encounter between culture and nature, the Nuits des Forêts festival intends to raise society’s awareness of the forest crisis, of the challenges of forest management, and to promote new relationships with the living, at the level of each territory.

See you on July 2, 3 and 4, 2021 for days and nights shared in the forest!

All over France, a hundred or so public and private forests will be open to the public: children, young people, families and professionals… In partnership with the actors of the French forest, a vast program will be proposed, made of meetings, walks in forest, debates, performances and artistic installations, collective and participative experiments…

This festival will also be an opportunity for small groups of participants to live a unique experience: sleeping one or two nights in the forest. These experiments will be guided and accompanied by the foresters themselves, but also by artists, scientists, volunteers…

We will provide you with more information about the festival sites and the final program in each forest in the coming weeks!

To feel alive among the living

Redefining our relationship with living things means, above all, reestablishing sensitive links with wild life and creating new narratives about our place in it.

By reenchanting the forests for the duration of a festival, we hope to generate long-term individual and collective commitments, but also joyful and optimistic feelings.
To awaken our deep responsibility as well as our wild nature.

So, let’s be inspired by traditional societies, let’s sing, let’s dance, let’s form new tribes, let’s live the nature that surrounds us! And we will undoubtedly find this collective inner strength, to finally better inhabit our world.

Who are we?

The Nuits des Forêts association

The Nuits des Forêts association, co-founded by Paul Jarquin, Clara Anguenot and Lauranne Germond, is the result of a collective reflection between actors of the forestry and wood industry and the cultural and artistic sector. It wishes to invite society to take up the issue of the forestry crisis by initiating actions to raise awareness and mobilize the public to forestry issues.

An event co-organized with FIBOIS FRANCE and the association COAL art and ecology.
